RUSSIA – MALTA
MEMORABLE PLACES
Graphic arts by Nickolay Polyushenko

During the brief reign of the Emperor Paul I Russia and the Order of St. John of Jerusalem, known to all as the Maltese Order, were linked to one destiny. 215 years ago, the reigning monarch of the Orthodox Russia became the head of the most respected in the Catholic Christian world Order, founded in 1113 in Jerusalem. The main purpose of the Order was to help the destitute, to rescue them from disease, poverty and suffering, regardless of nationality and religion. Since then, Russia and Malta have tight economical and cultural connections.
