Nikolay Polyushenko


Nikolay Polyushenko was born in Rostov-on-Don, a big commercial and industrial center, the capital of Southern Federal district, which is located on the Don river, in 1957.

In 1979 he graduated from Rostov-on-Don State Pedagogical University faculty of Artistic graphics.

By the age of 26 Nikolay Polyshenko has held exhibitions in Moscow, the capital of Russian Federation, and also in all main cities of ex-Soviet republics. His recognition grew rapidly and several prestigious museums including Taganrog Literary and Historical and Architectural Reserve museum, ordered full collections of his art works.

In 1991 he was declared a full member of artists' commonwealth of Russia

and the International Association of Arts AIAP UNESCO and foreign completists started to show interest in his art works more and more often. Nowadays art works of the painter can be found in state and private collections in Russia, Greece, France, Norway, USA, Germany, Malta and Japan.

Traveling around the world allowed to gain essential working material, which helped the painter, after its accurate learning and conversion, to create a range of graphical compositions and cycles attracting first of all by interesting author's view.

Nikolay Polyushenko was an honoured guest of the first Chekhov's conference in Badenweiler (Germany) in 1998 which was devoted to the opening of literary museum "Chekhov's salon". The painter was one of its foundation initiators.

By the decision of Russian Municipal Academy from the 6th of May 2004 Nikolay Polyushenko was rewarded a commemorative medal "For the 100th anniversary of M.A.Sholokhov".

In 2007 the painter was rewarded a title of "An honoured artist of Russia" for longstanding fruitful work in the field of graphic arts and for substantial contribution in popularization of Russian cultural heritage.

"Gallery of Nikolay Polyushenko" - it's a collection of more than 500 author's original landscape, still life, portrait and illustration paintings, performed in techniques of painting, aquarelle, drawing, engraving and serigraphy on topics "Russia", "Don land", "Rostov-on-Don", "Close to A.P. Chekhov", "Mikhail Sholohov", "Alexander Solzhenitsyn", "Europe from painter's view. Dialog of cultures", "Nude", "Portraits", "Avantgarde".

In February 2009 a personal exhibition of Nikolay Polyushenko "A.P.Chekhov. For the 150th anniversary of writer's birthday" was held in State Duma of the Federal Assembly of Russian Federation (by the initiative of Cultural Committee of State Duma). After the exhibition had been finished the demonstrated collection of art works was given as a gift to State Duma of the Federal Assembly of Russian Federation.

Nikolay Polyushenko was rewarded a commemorative medal "the 150th anniversary of A.P.Chekhov" in 2010. (Culture Ministry of Russian Federation's Order from the 13th of December 2010 Moscow).

In 2011 a personal art exhibition "Don lands" was held within presentation of Rostov area in Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russian Federation in Moscow with slogan "Rostov area as art work."

By the present moment the author has taken part in and held more than 100 art exhibitions, which were signed with grateful letters and diplomas, in different cities of Russia and abroad. Comprehensive and substantial creative and social work of Nikolay Polyushenko is well-known far away from Russian borders. The range of social activities regularly organized by the painter - publication and presentation of author albums, meeting with audience, TV and Radio shows, creation of personal web-page and page on Facebook, holding of charitable actions for children houses, libraries, schools and hospitals. An author project has already been created and started, which is set for studying and exploring life way and creative works of world-wide famous writers A.P.Chekhov, M.A.Sholohov, A.I. Solzhenicin and for popularization of Russian language and literature with help of graphic arts.
